about

Circle of Protection is experimental sound art. Its four tracks were recorded with old analog and FM synths, a cheap tube amp scavenged from a friend’s storage unit, and field recordings of natural phenomena.

Inspiration for this release stems from encounters with ritual and animal medicine. The recordings are jagged and rough. A few of the samples were gathered on extended wilderness journeys and some were captured with nothing more than the mic on a cell phone.

The resulting music is an expression of my evolving practice of using synthesizers (or whatever is in reach) as a means to dialog with the forces of wild nature. The energies that animate the wild world are always present around us. They will reveal and communicate if we are willing to open the channel for them. Our ancestors knew this-through their ceremonies they called upon these forces often for guidance, healing, and protection.

My hope is that for the curious listener, these pieces will help them connect with their own allies, in whatever form they appear in.

Feel free to listen, stream, download for free or you pay what you want.
